About the Convict

The Convict is a very offense based character. She starts with an extra gun, the sawed off shotgun, and a use item. The Molotov cocktail. She also has a passive item that makes you do slightly more damage and become angry when damaged. Just like me when playing the game!

Use the Sawed-off Shotgun!

The pistol you start with is somewhat inaccurate. It works well enough, but I recommend using the other gun the character starts with.

The sawed-off shotgun is strong enough alone to get you to the second chamber and beyond. Don’t be afraid to use it a lot. Ammo is common.

You need to get in close to shoot accurately and do good damage, though. So that is a big tradeoff.

Use the Molotov Cocktail to Your Advantage

I used to be timid about using the Molotov cocktail. I try to wait for a good time to use it. That strategy does not really fit the play style of the character. Active items recharge somewhat fast. There is no need to save them outside specific cases.

There is also a hidden stat called coolness that affects how often you can use active items. Only certain items give coolness, so to learn more, I recommend reading the wiki page on it.

I am not saying fling it out randomly, every chance you get. But once you see more than one enemy coming at you, and you think they will walk in the fire, just toss it out. Doing this then hiding behind cover works well. Enemies in this game have no danger sense at all. They will walk in fire, poison, and anything else to try to shoot at you. You don’t need to trick them. Just toss in right in front of their movement.

Good Items for the Convict

Any good items for the Convict are good items for anyone else.

Items that increase coolness are good if you really like the Molotov cocktail. There is a Shotgun Affinity synergy. But finding something like this is a bit too rare to really consider.

There are a few items that do stuff when you take damage. I suppose these items can unofficially synergize with Enraging Photo. Heart of Ice and Bullet Idol are two examples.

Just try to find guns and items you like and synergies for them.
