Review Information
- Time Played: About an hour and 30 minutes. I solved 13 puzzles.
- Where I played the game: Stean
- Spoilers: I will only show the first two levels since this is an answer-based puzzle game. This is fair as you will see these levels immediately, and level one is so easy anyone can solve it. I only show level two in the level select screen.
Disclosure
I was provided a copy of this game by the developer to review it. I agreed to play and review the game at their request.
Review Overview: Fun but Sometimes Confusing
I had fun playing Riddle Tower. But because I am bad at solving riddles, I spend much time being confused. Despite that, I see why people enjoy this game. There is much content to interact with.
What Works
- Puzzles are interesting
- Hint system helps without giving away the answer
What Doesn’t
- Some puzzles are too hard for me to figure out
- If you are stuck, there is not much you can do sometimes

How the Game Ran on My Computer
This is a simple Unity game. These kinds of games can run on any computer. I had no issues.
Gameplay Review: I Am Bad at Riddles
How Riddle Tower Works
Each level is a riddle. You need to solve it and write an answer. Until you get the correct answer, you will be stuck on the puzzle.
For example, in the first level, the game has a picture that asks you what the next level is. The answer is level 2. But don’t worry. Most levels are nowhere near this easy.
My Thoughts on the Controls
This game has very basic controls. You click on things and type in answers. They work fine enough.
Game Systems and Features
The game has story levels and extra levels to play. I looked at a few of the additional levels. They seemed fun as well.
Difficulty and Balance
This game has me questioning my logic and problem-solving skills. The game starts deceptively easy. But puzzles had me completely stumped.
If I spent days pondering the puzzles, I would find a solution. But for this review, I decided that if I could not figure out an answer with hints, I look up the solution and try to understand it.
I can’t say if this difficulty is good or bad. It depends on whether you want a challenge in puzzle games. I often want to see more challenging puzzles in games. However, the way puzzles are presented in this game is confusing.
The game shows you a picture as the prompt and leaves you to figure out what it wants you to do. Some levels have text in the pictures asking you to answer something. I wish all levels did this.
The hints are sometimes not helpful. I give credit to the developer for trying to balance this. But some hints left me just as confused before I clicked on them.
I feel conflicted here, so I will end by saying I appreciate the attempt to make creative puzzles, but at least for me, I just felt stupid trying to solve some of them.
Game Length
It is hard to say how long a game like this will take. If you know the answer, you can solve puzzles in less than a minute. Or you could take hours or even days to find an answer.
The game has plenty of content. You won’t run out of things to do fast. Unless you are a puzzle genius or something.
My Thoughts on the Puzzles
The puzzles were an interesting mix. As I mentioned before, some of them confused me a lot. But I appreciated the variety. I had to get out tools to solve some of the puzzles.
- I wrote notes
- I used a calculator
- I drew things
- I took screenshots and edited them
That was an interesting experience. Rarely in games do I need anything other than checking a wiki or the occasional note.
Graphics & Visual Style
The game has a mobile game look to it. The UI looks like something from a mobile game. A nice way of describing the graphics in the game is they are functional. Nothing fancy or fantastic looking here.
For a game about riddles, that is OK enough.
Sound & Music
The mobile game comparison works for audio as well. The game has a song that plays during menus. It is OK. The sounds are also functional but forgettable.
It takes a lot to impress me with game audio. I won’t say I hate the sounds in this game, but they don’t make much of an impression on me.
Is Riddle Tower Worth Buying?
So, as I mentioned at the top of the review, I did not buy this game. The developer provided me with a CD key. I would not buy this game. I only played Riddle Tower because someone asked me. I don’t usually play riddle games like this.
The game costs $5 (USD). The game has free extra content. $5 (USD) is a fair price for a game like this. I have spent more money on games I regret than Riddle Tower. The puzzles are fun, and there are a lot of them.
But let’s consider the competition. There are plenty of riddle games on Google Play or the App Store. For free.
Some might say I am comparing apples to oranges. But mobile games are what look close to and sound like Riddle Tower. It is a fair comparison, and there is a lot of competition.
Riddle Tower is a nice game. But it’s not so good it stands out compared to other similar games.
This is not the worst purchase if you like riddle games and want to play something on Steam. You also get to support a smaller developer. I did not enjoy the game much, but I can respect that someone made and published something.
Final Thoughts & Recommendation
Riddle Tower is a cute puzzle game. There are many puzzles, and some are interesting. However, I often felt confused when solving the puzzles. I admit that maybe I am stupid, and the game is not for me. I suggest considering it if you enjoy puzzle games and don’t mind paying a little money.

No.
