Pushika Review

Rubber Cats?

I recently started to have a fascination with Suika Game. If you didn’t know, this game is about dropping and combing fruits to avoid going crazy and angry. Or maybe that last part is just me.

I saw Pushika on Steam and decided to play it because it was free. I am going to explain my thoughts on the game in this review.

Pushika Review Information

I wanted to find games like Suika Game on Steam. I saw Pushika on Steam and downloaded it because it was free.

I played the game for five hours on Steam. It feels a lot longer than that. But maybe that is because I kept losing over and over.

Pushika Gameplay Review

How Does This Game Work?

Pushika works just like Suika Game but with some differences. You drop cats, and they bounce around. Each cat combines when it touches another of the same type. The goal is to grow the cats by combing them until you reach the last cat. The equivalent of the watermelon or suika.

As you drop cats, if you are not careful like me, they pile up, and eventually, you lose because they overflow and get out of the box.

How Is This Game Different Than Suika Game?

This game is not a direct clone of Suika Game.

First, the cats are bouncy. They don’t roll around or rotate. They tend to drop, bounce, and settle. The cats seem like rubber, squeaky toys.

Second, the game has fish powerups. At first, this confused me. The game needs to explain what these powerups do. I only learned what each one does by experimenting with them. But once I did know they were an interesting change.

For example, one powerup lets you remove a particular cat from the bottom of the pile. In Suika Game, I often get frustrated at fruit stuck under bigger fruits with nothing to do about it. Pushika gives you options to deal with some Suika Game frustrations with these fish. But they can sometimes be annoying, depending on when you get them.

The last notable change is that you don’t lose just because cats touch outside the box. They have to do so for more than a few seconds. It means you have a slight chance of getting out of a lost game if you are very fast.

Also, you don’t lose immediately if cats bounce out of the box and fall back in. Losing this way is one of my frustrations with Suika Game.

Presentation Review

How the Game Looks

The cats are cute, as expected.

They often have silly faces. Some look sad, happy, and angry. As said before, they seem like rubber toys in presentation. Smaller cats tend to bounce around everywhere.

For a free game, it looks nice. The background cat art is also neat.

How the Game Sounds

The game sounds nice enough. I like the bouncy sounds the cats make. The pitch is different depending on the size of the cat.

The music is pleasant enough. You only hear one song, which is better than I would expect for a free game.

My Thoughts on the Value of the Game

The game costs nothing to add to your game library, and there is no DLC or anything to purchase.

I wonder why the developer does not change like $5 (USD) or something similar. I have paid more money for worse games or games I did not like.

My Overall Thoughts on Pushika

Pushika is Suika Game but with enough changes to feel unique and not a clone. Being a free game, it is fun. It brings enough fun to be worth the time.

Do I Recommend People Play Pushika?

Do you like Suika Game? Then, give it a try. Even if you have never played that game before, this game is free. If you try it and don’t like it, all you do is spend some time.

Will I Keep Playing Pushika?

I bought another game recently that I might play a bit more. But I will play this game for a while to get a good score at least once.
