Time to Hunt!
The Hunter is a nice all-around character. Enter the Gungeon character. In this guide, I am going to give tips and advice on how to beat the game playing as her.
What the Hunter Starts With
You start the game with a pistol and a crowbow. You also have a dog companion.
Her starting gun is good. I like it more than some other characters.
The crossbow is good for early chambers. But it is slow to shoot and becomes annoying. The extra damage is good to start with, though. But I replace it somewhat soon if possible.
The dog is pretty much just there to be cute. You can pet it if you wondered. It does randomly find items for you. But when I played, this did not happen often. After clearing a room, there will be a 5% chance the dog will find an item.
Oh, yeah, it also barks at chests if they are mimics. I suppose that is helpful. The dog won’t bark at pedestal or wall mimics, though.
Advice on Playing the Hunter
The Hunter is a very generalist-type character and does not have much to stand out. I recommend reading my Enter the Gungeon survival guide for advice for all characters. But since you are here and reading this now, I will give you the best tips I can. It is not much, but here it is.
Use the Crossbow a Lot
Get used to the crossbow. You might as well just use it until you run out of ammo early in the game. Don’t be afraid to use it. You find ammo fast, and unless you find another gun right away, you won’t have anything else to use it on anyway.
It does not have any synergies, so yeah, it kind of stinks later in the game. I would only use if any other guns I have run out of ammo late game.
Don’t Forget to Pick up Items the Dog Finds
If you see the dog start barking and making cute digging animations, don’t forget to pick up whatever item it finds. I left items in rooms after clearing them because I did not see the digging animation.
