Harvest Festival 64 Spotlight Post

Harvest Festival 64 is a game I saw on Twitter, and I thought the game looked like Animal Crossing. Harvest Festival 64 was made for a Ludum Dare game jam.

The Itch page also seemed to hint this is some kind of horror game. Since it doesn’t look like one, I assumed the horror is hiding in the game somewhere. So I downloaded the game to play it to find out.

So without spoiling the horror in this game, Harvest Festival 64 feels like one big fetch quest. You run around and gather things.

The trees, the grass, and the beach look like things from Animal Crossing. Even the music almost passes for something that could be in one of the older games.

You see some benches, pumpkins on the ground, and a house.

The horror in the game is a bit milder. Nothing in the game made up jump or tense up. It was more weird and odd than spooky.

I feel the game could have been a bit scarier. The game could use more hints of horror. Maybe add in things only players who carefully look everywhere find.

Overall I think the game was nice enough for what it was. I rather watch other people play horror games most of the time. But I suppose for my blog, I might risk getting scared a few times.

You can download and play the game at Itch.io. Here is a link to the page.
